A composition, a nice piece of wood, sharp gouges, ink, paper: there is something compelling about the process of woodblock printmaking. The finished works – each an original, hand pulled print, slightly unique from each of the others in the numbered edition – convey the dichotomy of an exacting process and the spirited directness achieved when gouge meets wood.
